What is a travel eSIM?
A travel eSIM is a digital SIM card you download to your phone. You buy a data plan for your destination online, scan a QR code or tap install, and your phone connects to a local network when you land. There is no plastic SIM to swap.
Is an eSIM cheaper than roaming?
Usually yes. Outside free roaming zones such as the EU, operator roaming often costs many times more per GB than a travel eSIM. Check your operator's roaming price for your destination and compare it with the plans here.
How does RoamingScanner choose the best plan?
We calculate the total price of your whole trip for each provider. That includes buying extra packs or combining short passes when one plan is not enough. The cheapest total comes first. Commissions never change the order.
Is my phone eSIM compatible?
Most iPhones from the XS onward and recent Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones support eSIM. Your phone must also be unlocked. Dial *#06#: if you see an EID number, your phone has eSIM.
